Rare Palaset Modular Storage System- Finland

Rare Palaset Modular Storage System- Finland

I have never seen any of these fantastic modular furniture pieces in the flesh until i stumbled across this lovely pile.

Made in Finland by Palaset and designed by Ristomatti Ratia, son of the founder of Marimekko. I was expecting it to be a thin perspex plastic, but it is actually made from polystyrene (obviously not the brittle stuff used for packaging, but rather a dense, heavy version). Very good quality, with a very slight texture to the surface.

The pieces photographed can be moved around and made into a number of individual and very handy pieces. With drawers, shelves, a cupboard and even record or book storage

When i found it, to say it had been well used was an understatement, but after a whole day of cleaning up, i discovered what i thought was beige plastic, was actually white and bar one handle, it is very much complete.

Also very handy that some of these pieces have been reissued, so the set can be added to, and perhaps extra colours included if required.

All in all a lovely piece of design for any home.
